Allianz Australia appointed as claims service provider for icare’s Nominal Insurer scheme

7 October 2022

Allianz Australia (Allianz) has been appointed by Insurance and Care NSW (icare) as a claims service provider for the Nominal Insurer (NI) workers' compensation scheme from 1 January 2023. This appointment is subject to contract execution.

Allianz will be a claims service provider (CSP) appointed to provide services for the NI scheme, specifically as a Generalist with Specialist Capabilities CSP, which will encompass the management of all claim types – entailing both physical and psychological injuries. Allianz will also bring strong capability in providing tailored management of primary psychological claims, which are increasing in number across the scheme.

The announcement by icare of Allianz’s successful tender is a continuation of Allianz’s longstanding support to private sector employers and injured workers of New South Wales (NSW). The continued partnership will see Allianz support employers, brokers and employees navigate workers' compensation in NSW, with a strong focus on return to work, and to the best quality of health and life.

Julie Mitchell, Chief General Manager, Personal Injury, at Allianz Australia said the appointment is a testament to the strong partnership with icare as a NSW workers' compensation scheme provider and the dedication from the personal injury teams at Allianz.

"Allianz Australia is pleased to again be appointed as a claims service provider working in partnership with icare and the employers of NSW. This is recognition of our commitment to making a difference to employers and injured workers, and the ongoing dedication of our team here at Allianz.”

"At Allianz, our focus on service excellence and continuous improvement aims to help create better outcomes for injured workers, as we assist them in their recovery journeys. We have extensive workers' compensation capability and expertise, psychological claims management experience, scheme knowledge, and ongoing focus on learning and innovating as a claims service provider. We’re proud to meet the changing needs of Australian workers, and are well positioned to serve current and future customers.”

Allianz also welcomes the launch of icare’s Professional Standards Framework, which will provide learning and career pathways for case managers, and continued enhancement of claims management teams’ capability, expertise and capacity. The Framework will guide the practices, skills, knowledge, and behaviours required by claims management teams and support consistent decision making and high standards of service for the workers and employers of NSW.
