Australia is experiencing more frequent weather events and higher repair costs. It’s also becoming more difficult to get parts and skilled labour. These are some of the factors affecting insurance costs, including premiums. To find out how we work out your premium, visit our Understanding insurance premiums page.

Choosing insurance is about trusting your insurer to help if you need to make a claim. Allianz is a well-established insurance company with over 100 years’ experience in Australia. In 2023 alone, we paid out over 228,312 domestic Car, Home and Landlord Insurance claims. This data is based on claims that closed in 2023, regardless of the year they were reported.

It’s important to always review your policy documents to make sure the information is correct. You’ll also need your Biller Reference Number (BRN) to make the payment.

If you miss the renewal deadline, call us on 13 1000 as soon as possible to discuss your options. We may cancel your cover if we don’t hear from you. If you pay your insurance monthly and miss two payments in a row, we may cancel your cover.

If you miss your Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance renewal deadline, don’t drive until you’ve paid for insurance and renewed your registration. Remember, you can be fined for driving an unregistered vehicle. Also, if your vehicle is five years old or more, check your registration notice to see if you need a safety inspection. You may need a pink slip before renewing your registration.

Unfortunately, the value of your vehicle will decrease over time. We review the agreed value every year at renewal, based on the Glasses Guide – an independent valuation guide. It’s a valuation of your vehicle as an asset, not what you could privately sell your vehicle for.

Unfortunately, vehicles tend to decrease in value over time, but the costs to repair them increase each year. Finding parts can be harder or more expensive, so older vehicles can cost more to insure. Your premium has to reflect the potential cost of the claim to make sure you’re covered.

Also, older cars may have fewer accident prevention features. Features like reversing sensors or traction control are more common in newer cars. We consider older cars more at risk of being involved in an accident, so they’re more expensive to insure.

We consider various factors to work out your insurance premium, such as your location, your use of the vehicle, and your claims history. That’s why each insurance premium is different. To find out how we work out your Car Insurance premium, visit our Understanding your Allianz Car Insurance page.

With our Car Insurance, you can choose your own repairer. We’re also a well-established, trusted insurer, with considerable claims experience. See what our customers think about our Car Insurance claims experience.

When the cost of construction and consumer goods increases, the average home insurance claim also increases. In turn, we may need to adjust the price of our premiums to make sure we can cover the higher cost of claims.

Other market conditions, such as extreme weather events, can also affect your premium. To find out how we work out your premium, visit our Understanding your Allianz Home Insurance premium page.

When you combine Buildings and Contents on one Home Insurance policy, you can get a discount of up to 10% on your premium. This discount also applies to the optional Motor Burnout and Accidental Damage covers. Life Insurance doesn't have a traditional renewal process like other types of insurance. This is because Life Insurance policies have continuous contracts. Your contract will continue until your policy expires, or you cancel it, or it lapses due to non-payment.

As you don’t need to renew your Life Insurance, your premiums will continue. We’ll deduct your payments on a monthly or annual direct debit from your credit card or bank account.

If you need to update your details, call us on 13 1000.

Life insurance premiums will usually increase at each policy anniversary. This is due to factors such as your age and inflation proofing. We apply inflation proofing to make sure your cover stays in line with inflation. If you don’t want an inflation proofing increase, just let us know.

For further details, see the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) or contact the Life Insurance Contact Centre on 1300 203 055.

  1. Option to change your excess
Home: Not available with respect to any additional compulsory excess, imposed excess applied to the policy or to the Portable contents excess. Any reduction in premium will not be applied to government taxes and charges, or to optional covers (if available and selected): Domestic Workers' compensation, Flood or Portable contents. Minimum premiums apply.

Landlord: Not available with respect to any additional compulsory excess, or to the imposed excess applied to the policy. Any reduction in premium will not be applied to government taxes and charges, or to optional covers (if available and selected): Landlord’s Workers' compensation, or Flood. Minimum premiums apply.
  2. Minimum premiums may apply
Any discounts may be subject to rounding and only apply to the extent that any minimum premium isn't reached. If you’re eligible for more than one discount, Allianz applies them in a predetermined order. This means the effect of applying any subsequent discount will be reduced. For example, the aggregate effect of applying two discounts consecutively means that you won't see the full benefit of both these discounts.

Discounts don't apply to taxes or government charges.
  3. Combined Discounts
A discount of up to 10% is applied to your premium when you combine Buildings and Contents on one Home Insurance policy, including for the following optional covers if selected: Motor Burnout and Accidental Damage cover. The combined discount doesn't apply to Landlord policies, Flood, Portable Contents, or Domestic Workers’ Compensation optional covers (if available and selected).
