We’ve been supporting customers in Australia since 1914. Once known as Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Limited (MMI), we became Allianz Australia in July 2000.
2022
The newly rebuilt Allianz Stadium opened its doors in August. This sporting arena in Sydney showcases sustainable design.
2021
Allianz Australia moved into new head office at Brookfield Place, Sydney.
2021
Allianz  Australia bought Westpac Banking Corporation’s general insurance arm. We agreed to be the only seller of general insurance products to their customers for 20 years.

Allianz Australia sold Ken Tame and Associates.
2021
Allianz Group joined the Worldwide Olympic Partner program. 
2019
Allianz Australia became a partner of the Australian Olympic Team.
2019
Allianz Group became a founding member of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance. We made a commitment to reduce the carbon emissions of our investment portfolios.
2017
Allianz Australia began underwriting products for Dawes Motor Insurance.
2016
Allianz Australia established a partnership with Settlement Services International, to help provide funding for people who came to Australia as refugees to access technology, education and local qualification recognition.
2015
Allianz Group began restricting coal-based business models in our insurance investment and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance portfolios.
2012
Sydney Football Stadium officially became Allianz Stadium. It joined the Allianz family of stadiums around the world.
2012
Allianz Australia helped create Allianz Marine and Transit Underwriting Agency (AM&T), with a focus on marine and transit insurance in Australia.
2011
Allianz Australia became an ongoing partner of Paralympics Australia. 
2009
Allianz Australia was first recognised as an Employer of Choice for Women (now Employer of Choice for Gender Equality). This came from Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (now Workplace Gender Equality Agency).
2006
Allianz Group became a partner of the International Paralympic Committee.
2006
Allianz Australia Life insurance established to offer life insurance to Australians. 
2005
Allianz Group first put a climate strategy in place. It aimed to support the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
2000
Official company name changed to Allianz Australia from MMI in July.
1998
Allianz bought a majority shareholding in MMI. It became a wholly owned branch of Allianz AG.
1994
In April, MMI became a publicly listed company.
1986
MMI bought the Australian operation of Allianz.
1951
The company was running in NSW and QLD with 26 district officers and 388 staff.
1942
The company’s assets passed the $1 million mark.
1920
The company changed its name to Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Limited, (MMI).
1914
"The Manufacturers' Mutual Accident Insurance Association Limited" began its Workers' Compensation underwriting business. This company ultimately became Allianz Australia.
