Gates open at the new Allianz Stadium

It doesn’t get more exciting this. The opening of the new Allianz Stadium ushers in a new era for sport and entertainment in Australia. Situated next door to the Sydney Cricket Ground in one of the most iconic sporting precincts in the world, the stadium promises a state-of-the-art experience for athletes, performers and fans alike.

The new stadium joins our family of seven stadiums around the world, covering seven countries and four continents. It will bring communities together to enjoy not just premier sporting events, but national and international concerts and important cultural events. The new venue will be a world-class, multi-use stadium where history is made, and stadium goers can enjoy unforgettable, life-enriching moments.

The new Allianz Stadium  makes fan enjoyment the centrepiece of the experience. Each of the stadium’s 42,500 seats are undercover and offer unobstructed sightlines to the pitch. The seating has also been designed to bring spectators closer to the action and reflect noise back into the stadium to create a heightened atmosphere no matter the event. Video screens, an open concourse and other seating zones will mean fans are never far from the action.

First-class hospitality facilities will make any day at the stadium a memorable one. There are more than 350 areas serving food and beverage options, and luxurious corporate hospitality facilities are available for entertaining purposes. Best-in-class customer service, improvements to accessibility and safety, and the latest in wi-fi technology ensure that fans enjoy an engaging and interactive experience.

It isn’t just the fans who can take advantage of the facilities offered at the new stadium. New team facilities include dressing rooms, medical rooms, wet areas, warm-up rooms and recovery pools. State-of-the-art fitness facilities are available for members and there are cutting-edge gym spaces for use by the local community.

In line with our inclusivity focus, the stadium has been designed to be accessible to all groups of people regardless of their age, gender, religion or mobility. Four gender-neutral changerooms are provided, as are prayer rooms, parenting rooms and accessibility ramps.

At Allianz we have strong environmental, societal and governance (ESG) criteria. Through the newest Allianz Stadium, we are setting a new standard for stadium sustainability. 

From the planning and construction stages through to the operation and maintenance phases, the stadium has been designed to meet the standards of LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold accreditation. Approximately 87 per cent of construction and demolition waste was recycled during construction and 40 per cent less steel used in the stadium’s lightweight roof structure when compared to typical venues of the same size. 

Solar panelling and water harvesting solutions mean the stadium exceeds energy and water efficiency benchmarks by as much as 20 per cent. By using native vegetation for shade, light surfaces and reflective roofing, the stadium also counteracts the heat island effect frequently caused by urban infrastructure. 

Fans are encouraged to play their own part in contributing to the sustainable use of the stadium. An open and accessible public precinct surrounding the stadium facilitates foot traffic to and from the venue. And fans travelling from further away have the option of using electric vehicle charging points, bicycle parking, well-connected public transport routes, and a two-kilometre-long pedestrian pathway linking the stadium to Sydney’s Central Station.

We’re proud that the latest stadium bearing the Allianz name is a modern, multi-use venue to rival the world’s best stadiums and will play host to Sydney’s best sporting and entertainment events. But we’re just as proud that the Stadium incorporates the best of Allianz’s values.
