Paralympic Ambassadors share those who spark their confidence

Where do you find the confidence to believe in yourself and keep pushing when the going gets tough? Often, it's those around us who play a vital role in keeping us positive, hopeful and confident in our efforts to achieve.

Research commissioned by Allianz Australia on the perceptions of confidence reports that 70% of Australians say the support of friends and family is key to individual confidence.

With the Paralympic Games starting soon, our Athlete Ambassadors are sharing those who have been behind them throughout the ups and downs of the past 18 months - the special people in their lives that #SparkConfidence, and have helped them in their journey to reach the Games.

Triathlete, Nic Beveridge, was 17 years old when he woke one morning to discover he was paralysed from the chest down. He had aggressive transverse myelitis, a rare neurological condition which attacks the spinal cord. Hear Nic talk about the confidence and drive to compete at the pinnacle of his sport being driven by the unwavering support of his friends and family.

Madison de Rozario is one of Australia’s most recognised and successful Paralympians competing in wheelchair racing. Hear Madi talk about her support network and trainer playing a pivotal role in keeping her on track in the lead up to Tokyo 2020, despite the challenges that arose.

Australia’s Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby team, the Steelers, have never lost sight of their goal of competing at Tokyo 2020. Team manager Sam Allan, head coach Brad Dubberley and assistant coach Greg Smith have been key in sparking the team's confidence in the lead up to the Paralympic Games. Watch the Steelers' video.
